About Us

Founded in 2004 the Adventurous Activity Company has introduced thousands of people to the thrill and excitement of adventure sports. From assisting a Vicar to abseil from his church tower into the middle of his congregation, to appearing on a Dutch travel television programme, we’ve helped to inspire and thrill people from all walks of life.

We have delivered many fantastic and worthwhile teambuilding activities to groups and companies from around the UK and overseas. We’ve provided the opportunity for numerous people to safely abseil down buildings and cliff faces in order to allow them to raise many thousands of pounds for a variety of different charities. We’ve also arranged countless stag, hen and special occasion parties helping to give everyone a day they’ll never forget.

We aim to be as flexible as possible in order to provide the most suitable day for our clients and are fully aware of the implications in trying to organise large groups of people. Our background in instructing, teaching and education has helped us to impart our knowledge and experience about the activities we offer.

All of our activity programmes are run on demand and we adopt a flexible approach in order to tailor our activities to best fit your requirements. We work with you in order to provide a unique and exciting experience catering for people of all ages and abilities.

We employ experienced, fully qualified and certified instructors, and hold comprehensive Public & Employers Liability insurance. All activities and venues are fully risk assessed in order to make our activities safe and enjoyable.

We are also a licensed and approved activity provider with the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA).

Iain Asfhar

About Iain Afshar – Founder & Director of Adventurous Activity Company

From an early age I have always had an adventurous spirit and been the instigator of many adventures. From surfing and snowboarding in some of the most famous resorts and surf breaks around the world to climbing and trekking in the Alps, Andes and Himalayas, I’ve been lucky enough to have visited and experienced some unbelievable places.

With my background as a teacher and with many years experience as an outdoor pursuits instructor, I strive to share my passion of the outdoors with others. In setting up the Adventurous Activity Company I have been able to teach and share my knowledge with many thousands of people over the years.

I hold numerous instructor qualifications in many disciplines including the Mountaineering Instructor Award and International Mountain Leader Award. These awards qualify me to lead summer Mountaineering & Scrambling activities in the UK and Trekking and winter snowshoeing groups anywhere in the world.

I am always happy to discuss your specific activity requirements in detail so that I can offer the most appropriate, fun and exciting activity day as possible for you and your group.

Karen

About Karen

Never one to sit still I’m always up for an adventure. My favourite place to be is in the mountains on my snowboard. I’ve also been lucky enough to climb volcanoes in Patagonia, scale Table Mountain in South Africa and jump from a plane at 13,000 feet in New Zealand. Paddling on Bristol’s Floating Harbour in my beautiful home city of Bristol is pretty special too!

When I’m not up a mountain then I can be found working for the Adventurous Activity Company helping to deliver activity sessions or keeping things organised in the office. I strive to ensure that arranging your activity day is as easy as possible. I can also be found running around after my two children!

What I love most about working for the Adventurous Activity Company is seeing people really enthusiastic and having great fun whilst taking part in our activities. They often forget we are even there!
