Mountaineering & Scrambling
Our Mountaineering & Scrambling course is designed for hill walkers or climbers who wish to venture into more challenging and adventurous mountain terrain away from marked paths.
Mountaineering & Scrambling is a highly rewarding pastime as it allows you to access places and experience views that only few get to see.
On this course we cover the skills and techniques necessary to safely climb Grade 1, 2 or 3 scrambles or easy climbs in the mountainous areas of Scotland, Lake District or Snowdonia National Parks.
Although no previous experience is required it is advisable to have a reasonable level of fitness and some experience of summer hill walking in order to get the most out of the course.
This course can be tailored to meet your specific requirements and time constraints though we would usually look to spend a minimum of 2 days on the hill. We can focus on teaching all of the necessary skills and techniques or simply go scrambling and cover as much ground as possible.
Course content includes:
- Mountain navigation, including night navigation
- Travel over a variety of terrain
- Basic rope work
- Planning a journey
- Clothing and equipment
- Assisting and safeguarding other party members
- Guidebooks and grading systems
